It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything on the blog. A lot has changed, but a lot has also stayed the same. I’m currently typing this from my desk in my loft in Los Angeles, where I’ve been living for the past two months. I’ve struggled alot. Mentally and physically these past couple of years have weighed down on me. I turned 24 a week ago and I can’t believe that I’m blessed to see life like this. it’s weird, watching things fade as mental illness takes a toll on you emotionally. I lived in Florida for about two years and moved out here to further pursue my directing career. I’m lucky that I had Mike and Katy extend their home to me and let me crash with them for a while as I figured things out.
So these set of polaroids are from a performance by Alison O’Daniel who commissioned five Deaf skaters and four hearing musicians to bring to life the skater’s score. The triumphs and failures of missed tricks and nose grinds and a game of SKATE where the best tricks were shown on display. I truly enjoyed being involved in the Deaf community again and hope to participate in something like this again soon.
Connecting to my roots made me feel love again. It was amazing and made me miss the Florida School of the Deaf and Blind.
